Café Avalaun is a 100% dedicated gluten-free restaurant in Cleveland, Ohio. There is something for everyone, from vegan options to chicken and waffles, their menu will not disappoint.

If you are looking for a gluten-free restaurant in Cleveland, I would highly recommend stopping into Café Avalaun.

I first discovered Café Avalaun when I was home for my dad’s birthday in February 2023. Since then, I’ve been back home three times and it’s my go to spot to eat when I’m in town. Each time I always get something different so I can try as many of the menu items as possible.

Why is Café Avalaun so good?

Café Avalaun uses the freshest ingredients that are locally sourced. Plus, because it’s a dedicated gluten-free restaurant, if you have an allergy, you can safely enjoy any of the menu items without worrying about cross-contamination.

Where is Café Avalaun located?

Café Avalaun’s address is 4640 Richmond Road Ste. 200, Cleveland, Ohio. Café Avalaun’s hours of operation are Tuesday – Saturday: 8:00am-3:00pm and Sunday Brunch from 10:00am-3:00pm. The restaurant is closed on Mondays.

Who owns and operates Café Avalaun?

During my first visit, I learned that this restaurant has been in Cleveland for over seven years. While I’ve only been gluten-free for a few years, I wish I would’ve found this place sooner! According to its website, Café Avalaun is a family-owned restaurant. It is owned and operated by husband-and-wife duo Brian and Jennifer Doyle and Jennifer’s mother Suzan. The café is named after Brian’s late mother, features fresh baked breads and homemade soups from Suzan, and displays art from other family members.

What is on the menu at Café Avalaun?

Like I mentioned, I’ve been here a few times, so I’ve been able to try several items on the menu. The menu features gluten-free baked goods such as muffins, breads, and cupcakes, as well as soups, crepes, and sandwiches.

What is the environment like?

Café Avalaun is a small café with amazing artwork and aesthetics. It has some seating, but it is better for smaller parties. Unfortunately, there are only two tables that allow for larger parties.

What is the service like at Café Avalaun?

Every time I went I dined there the service was fantastic! You order at the counter, and someone will bring out the food to your table. Each time we had the same person ring up our order and she gladly shared information about the restaurant and made sure we had everything we needed. I would highly recommend eating here if you are looking for a gluten-free restaurant in Cleveland!
