My favorite bacon jalapenos that I’ve had are at a local restaurant in my area, El Gran Charro. I’m still trying to master the sauce that they prepare with their jalapenos.

How to pick the best jalapenos

For the jalapeno poppers, look for jalapenos that are 3-4 inches long (or longer) and are thick in width. Finding larger jalapenos will make it easier for you to stuff. I lucked up with this batch because the grocery store had some really large jalapenos.

How can I adjust the spice level for the bacon jalapenos

If you want a milder jalapeno popper then make sure you remove all of the seeds and the white membrane of the pepper. If you want a little more heat, feel free to add as many of the seeds as you’d like. The pepper jack cheese will also add a subtle heat the to the poppers.

Can I make bacon wrapped jalapeno poppers in the air fryer?

Yes! These jalapeno poppers are delicious in the oven or in the air fryer. You can also grill these if you’d like!

Can I make the bacon jalapenos ahead of time?

If you want to make the jalapeno poppers ahead of your next party, prepare the filling and refrigerate until ready to use. Also, you can prepare the jalapenos by cutting them in halve and removing the seeds and membrane beforehand. I like to cut the peppers only on one side almost in two, leaving the two parts connected.

This recipe calls for you to shred block cheese. However, if you want to save on time, feel free to use pre-shredded cheese.

What dipping sauce can you serve with these?

You can choose whatever dipping sauce you like! I like to eat this with ranch dressing or with my homemade roasted red pepper dipping sauce.
