I was that weird kid that loved brussels sprouts. My mom was a bit surprised every time I asked for them. Since then, I’ve had brussels sprouts in so many ways, but this is one of my go-to quick and simple brussels sprouts recipes.

What benefits do brussels sprouts give you?

Brussels sprouts are in the cabbage family and have similar nutritional quality to broccoli. They are a great source of folic acid, and vitamins C and K.

Why should you cook brussels sprouts on the stove

Sautéing is a quicker way to achieve crispy and addictive brussels sprouts. I like to use my cast iron skillet, but you can use a heavy skillet of your choosing.

You can also roast your brussels sprouts in the oven. These are equally as tasty, but not as quick.

What Ingredients do you need to make Sautéed Balsamic Brussels Sprouts

  • Brussels Sprouts, 12 oz. bag (4 servings)
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tbsp. Oil (olive oil or grapeseed oil—I used my roasted garlic grapeseed oil from my garlic confit)
  • 1 tsp. Maple syrup
  • 1 tsp. Balsamic vinegar
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste

How to make Sautéed Balsamic Brussels Sprouts

Prepare your brussels sprouts by removing the stems and any yellowed or discolored leaves. Then wash the sprouts well under cold running water or soak them in a bowl of cold water.

Next, half the brussels sprouts and place in a large bowl.

In a separate bowl, add the minced garlic cloves, oil, maple syrup, balsamic vinegar, salt, and pepper.

Mix well and adjust flavor to taste by adding more maple syrup or salt and pepper.

Add the mixture to the large bowl with the brussels sprouts and toss well.

Heat a heavy skillet on medium-to-high heat.

Add a bit more oil to the pan.

Add the brussels sprouts to the pan and sauté for about 20 minutes, stirring frequently to prevent sticking and burning.

Remove from heat and toss with the herb toasted walnuts.

Serve immediately. Enjoy!
