Welcome! I’m happy you’re here. You can call me T, which is one of many nicknames, or Tenisha, which is my full first name. I learned to cook and bake at a young age at home in Ohio with my family. Now, I live in Virginia with my new hubby and am excited to share this blog with you and for you to learn a little about me.
You should know that food is my love language. It is my way of making sure that friends, family and maybe a few strangers (who are just people who you haven’t made friends yet) are nourished and happy. To me, food is also about building community and sharing cultures. As such, the idea for this blog came from my Sunday dinners. Every Sunday, I host friends and family for dinner. Because who doesn’t want good food in good company with even better drinks?
I love to try new foods, techniques and well, just experiment in the kitchen. Learning from others is also a passion. So whether I am recalling lessons from my childhood, learning about local cuisines and techniques while I travel, or studying cookbooks and other bloggers, I am constantly in learning mode.
After not worrying about food allergies for most of my life, I somehow developed a severe gluten sensitivity (not quite celiac disease) and certain dairy products and other foods result in inflammation and indigestion. So all the recipes on Sundays at T’s are gluten-free and will be to some extent, dairy-free. I will also flag any other allergens. Together we’ll explore amazing food that happens to be (mostly) allergen friendly.
I believe that food is medicine and we should be mindful about what we put into our bodies. I haven’t made the full transition to veganism, because honestly, I love bacon too much, but I do try to stick to lean meats and fish when I’m eating animal protein. And I will share vegan and vegetarian recipes.
This blog is all about celebrating good food, building community and learning from each other.
